Summer Harvest Gourmet Gala

The Franciscan Earth Literacy Center’s Summer Harvest Gourmet Gala has been scheduled for the evening of Friday, August 9th from 6 to 9 p.m.   Located on the beautiful grounds of the St. Francis campus in Tiffin, Ohio this annual fundraiser will be an event you won’t want to miss.  Attendees will be delighted with the changes that have been made to this year’s event as they are wined, dined and entertained under the large tent.  The evening will begin with gourmet hors d’oeuvres and the serving of local wines and micro brew beers.  There will be an opportunity to participate in the auction-raffle, with many of the items having been created by the Sisters on the St. Francis Campus.  While enjoying the musical entertainment, guests will be served a gourmet meal prepared by Executive Chef Billy Reese of KemoSabes in Fostoria, Ohio followed by an array of delicious desserts to choose from.   What a delightful way to spend an evening as the summer sun fades away and you are surrounded by friends, family, delicious foods and music.

Our featured chef at this year’s Gala is Executive Chef Billy Reese.  Billy attended Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio.  While at Hocking College, Billy was involved in various areas of cooking from cooking in hotels, university kitchens to catering for famous musicians and corporate companies.  Billy completed the Culinary Arts program receiving the rank of “Certified Culinarian” by the American Culinary Federation.  Since May 2011 when KemoSabes opened their doors at the site of the historic Black Cat restaurant in Fostoria, Billy has been their Executive Chef.  KemoSabes has been featured in the book, “Eating Your Way Across Ohio – 101 Must Places to Eat” by author Karen A. Patterson.
